I walked into the dark, smoky bar that I so often frequented. Almost everyone was dressed in black, and had white make-up smeared upon their faces. Several of them turned to look at me. I admit, I’m quite a sight to see. My long, straight hair was dyed red and hung down below my waist, and my eyes were an amber color that seemed gold depending on the lighting. I wore a simple black t-shirt and black jeans with a trenchcoat covering my thin frame. I was Llorn.

I walked past the other teenagers dressed in black. Some of them whispered, pointing at the fang-marks on my skin. Those were my badges of glory. How many of these Goth boys and girls of the CNO, also known as the Creatures of the Night Organization, could actually claim they’ve been bitten by a vampire?

Many of the CNO were either teenagers or fanatics, all of who loved vampires. We sought to make vampires constructive members of society, and discredit all those stories about all vampires being ruthless murderers. We were viewed as a vampire cult, but to us the CNO was so much more. We loved those darkly beautiful creatures of the night, and many of us sought to become one of them ourselves.

I got myself a beer and sat down at a table by the entrance, so I could see who came in. I nursed my beer for a while, watching the teenagers talk, chatter, drink, and trip. I scorned them. These children knew nothing of vampires. They were only here because they saw it as trendy, dangerous, and because it pissed their parents off.

My thoughts drifted to the vampire that bit me. He was dark-haired and handsome; his eyes cool blue and wide open as he kissed me tenderly. I begged him to turn me into one of his kind, but he wouldn’t hear of it. "You don’t belong with us," he had said. "You deserve to wander through a world of sunlight and laughter." Well-intentioned as his words were, they frustrated me. I had at least convinced him to take some of my blood. As he did, he held me tightly in an almost-crushing embrace as if to never let me go.

Then he left me, to go to Nocteria. He wouldn’t let me follow him, but I planned to do so anyway. I saved up all the money I made working as a waiter, and I almost had enough money to buy a ticket to that benighted planet.

A dark-haired girl sat down in front of me. Jenna, my girlfriend. She was decked out in fishnets and a corset, as well as tight leather pants that clinged to her long legs. She was one of those that belonged to the CNO because it was trendy, not because she actually cared for vampires. Sometimes she annoyed me, but her looks more than made up for it. I tried not to think of how much she resembled my vampire lover.

She smiled at me, her lips black and shiny with lipstick. "What are you doing, Llorn?" she asked. "Daydreaming about vampires again?"

"You could say that," I said, bored already. She continued to chatter on. I looked past her and caught my breath.

Graceful and powerful, he walked through the door, practically gliding. His hair matched his pale skin, and his eyes shone a brilliant true blue. He did not wear black; he did not need to. Rather, he wore all white, from his long trenchcoat to his glossy leather shoes. He looked slowly around the bar, his gaze as cold as ice, yet seductive as a flame. When his gaze settled upon me, I felt my heart quicken at the silent, deadly promise that lay in those depthless, cat-like eyes. A vampire, and an old one at that.

He came over to me, ignoring Jenna completely. He took my chin in his hand and tilted my face up, studying it intently. I felt as if I could fall into his gaze, surrounded by the color of the deep sky.

"Your name?" he asked. His voice was smooth and somewhat demanding. I could see a hint of his fangs when he spoke.

"Llorn," I replied, almost before I knew what I was doing, so enraptured by this white vampire.

"I am Tetsu," he said. "You’re mine now." He let go of my chin, but his eyes held me more tightly than anything else could have.

"Just one minute!" Jenna said, getting to her feet, her blue-grey eyes blazing angrily. "Llorn is my boyfriend!" I looked at her, taken aback. Couldn’t she see that this was an ancient, powerful vampire she was dealing with? Foolish, foolish girl.

Tetsu met her gaze steadily. Jenna took a step back, a tiny bit of fear lighting in her eyes. "Perhaps he was once yours," the albino vampire murmured. "But now I have claimed him. Come, Llorn." He turned and walked to the entrance. I eagerly followed.

"Wait!" Jenna shouted. "You’re not taking him anywhere!"

Tetsu turned around, annoyed. "Women," he muttered so softly only I could hear. His eyes then flashed a paler blue. I felt a shiver run through me. Then Jenna screamed, so I turned too look and watched in mild, detached fascination as blood ran from her nose, mouth, and eyes. She put her hands to her head, voicing a thin, piercing shriek that gradually fell silent.

Tetsu looked bored. "Come." He turned once more and walked out of the bar. I was at his heels. I never really liked Jenna that much, and her confrontation with this strange, powerful vampire destroyed any respect I had for her previously. Her beauty paled in comparison to this ethereal man who seemed to be made out of moonlight.

I turned and looked back to see Jenna’s limp form surrounded by thin, black-clad teenagers who resembled nothing more than vultures. They all looked at me—some envying, some accusing. I looked back at Tetsu, following him. The CNO no longer concerned me. Nothing of my old world concerned me anymore, not even my pale-eyed vampire lover or the money for my ticket to Nocteria hidden in a locked box under my bed. I would follow this pale vampire to the ends of the earth, to the very Gates of Hell.

For I was his now.

***

White encompassed all that I could see. Everything from the walls to the lamps, even the furniture was white. I felt out of place in this blinding, colorless place in my black clothes and red hair. My master, Tetsu, seemed to fit perfectly in this place; the only color on him his startling blue eyes. Most of us who dreamed of vampires thought of dark creatures dressed in black, living in dark, crumbling castles. Tetsu’s mansion was well kept and brightly lit, just in the outskirts of civilization. Tetsu seemed to defy everything that we thought was a vampire, but also seemed to fit it perfectly.

He pushed be down into a plush white chair, kissing me deeply. I could feel his fangs pricking my lower lip. I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms around him. He moved from my lips to kissing my jawbone, then lowered his mouth down to my throat, kissing and nipping at it rather playfully.

I whimpered softly in anticipation. Tetsu finally bit down, his fangs sliding into my flesh. After that initial pain, I felt pleasure, I felt as if I were floating above all the world. He drank from me slowly, his fingers caressing me all over as he did so, drawing soft sounds from my throat.

Eventually he pulled away, much to my disappointment. I look at him through half-lidded eyes, at his mouth stained crimson with my own blood. He bent down and took my mouth in his again, letting my taste my own life upon his bloodstained lips. I kissed back fiercely, determined to prove myself to my beautiful master.

After a while he lifted his mouth from mine to let me breathe. He stroked my hair in a gentle caress. "So beautiful," he murmured. He smiled seductively, disentangling himself from my arms. "Let’s take this to bed, shall we?" Then he turned, leading the way.

I followed him unquestioningly.

I awoke from my dream to memories of flesh against flesh and the scent of blood and sex. My hand stole downward to touch the bite on my inner thigh, where he had drank his fill. It was still a bit tender and hurt to touch, but I didn’t mind. I turned over to see Tetsu already awake, reading a book. He looked up at me and smiled.

"Ah, your awake. Get dressed. We’re leaving for Nocteria in a few hours," he said, then went back to his book, his eyes scanning the pages.

I slipped out of the bed, completely naked. Feeling Tetsu’s eyes upon me, I dressed unhurriedly, pulling on the clothes I had worn the night before. I pulled my long hair into a ponytail. When I looked over at my master, he was already dressed in his immaculate white clothes that already I was becoming familiar with.

"Here, kitten...I have a gift for you," he said, going up to me. He reached up his hand and fastened a leather collar around my neck, his hands brushing my neck. My heart soared at this gesture, the little strap of leather around me neck that marked me as his.

He turned and headed out, and I followed. We got into a car and drove to a private spaceport, in which Tetsu’s own ship rested. It was large, yet the elegant curves and design made it seem smaller; my mind could probably not even comprehend the amount of money that it took to buy such a vehicle. Tetsu paid me no mind as he boarded. He went around to the crew to see that all preparations were made, me following him like a silent shadow. When we took off, he then took me to his chambers, windowless rooms of sparkling white, and again we lost ourselves in his deep bed.

I rested my head upon the vampire’s pale chest as he ran his fingers through my hair. "My lord?" I said, softly, not wanting to break the almost arcane silence.

"Yes, my pet?" he asked calmly.

"Why don’t you turn me into a vampire?" There. I finally let out the question that had been plaguing me ever since last night. I wanted desperately to become what he was, to drink from the fountain that gave us life, to wander the world for countless nights.

Tetsu chuckled. "Impatient, pet? Don’t worry...you’ll have your chance. But for now, I wish to enjoy the fire that you mortals seem to give off. The blaze of life that shall burn out in a couple of decades." He smiled, showing his fangs, then bent down to drink from me once more. I lay there and submitted my very being to this wonderful, pale creature.

The nights were long and cold, and I was grateful for the company of my master. He fed off me occasionally, but he took to taking the lives of some humans he had apparently put into storage for when he got hungry. When I watched, I was proud that he never seemed to be as intimate in his feeding as he was when he bit me. It was not as if these scared, wide-eyed people could appreciate the beauty and sensuality of this vampire in white anyway.

When we arrived at Nocteria, I was astonished at how dark it was. Faded streetlights and neon signs as well as the occasional star were the only light for this dark, sunless planet. I looked around my heart soaring with happiness. I was in Nocteria!

I felt a hand upon my shoulder and looked to my master, who smiled mysteriously. He led me to his lair in Nocteria, a broken down, desecrated church. I could still see faded bloodstains at the altar where priests had undoubtedly met their end. It was a far cry from the glimmering splendor Tetsu had shown me on Earth, but I did not mind. There were other vampires here as well, all as pretty as I was, and all male. My master was singular in his tastes, it appeared.

One vampire caught my eye in particular, partly because he seemed different from the rest. Unlike the others, this one was disfigured by a scar that crossed over his eye, which was covered with an eyepatch. His face was somewhat angular, framed by black hair streaked with white. He stared back at me with one pale, wolfish eye that gleamed with madness.

"That’s Charon," Tetsu murmured to me. "I’ve had him for almost a decade. He’s insane, so don’t mind if he does anything odd."

Charon tilted his head, still staring at me. "Charon wants to know who the red-head is."

I blinked. "I’m Llorn," I replied, rather taken aback.

"It is nice to meet Llorn," Charon said, smiling. He then caught sight of a moth and started chasing it, seeming to forget about me completely. I watch in disgust as he caught the insect and popped it in his mouth.

"Nevermind him, Llorn, my pet," Tetsu murmured. "Come to my bedroom."

We lay upon black silk, Tetsu sitting against the pillows with my resting my head upon his chest. He brought my wrist to his mouth and bit it, drinking my blood once more. But this time he did not break away. I felt myself becoming weaker. My heart fluttered as bit in fear, but I told it to quiet.

He kissed my lips softly as I lay upon the brink of death."You are mine. Your body, your heart, your soul..." He slit his wrist with a sharp, lacquered nail and pressed the torn flesh to my mouth. "...And your blood. Drink, my pet."

I closed my eyes and drank the red nectar flowing from my master’s wrist. Soon, I felt the first of the changes wracking my body. Tetsu wrenched his arm from my grasp and watched as I screamed in pain as I died and was reborn with his potent blood.

***

The members of the CNO are complete idiots who know nothing of vampires. I saw that, my eyes opened when I ceased to be human. The night whispers to us and the stars caress us with a thousand fingers. Night is our realm, where we revel in blood amongst our screaming victims, lifting our voices in harmony with all other predators of the dark. Humans are the sheep and we are the wolves that prey on them.

I have been a vampire for a little over a year. The past few months had been hard for me, and very lonely. Master had been increasingly cold to me, focusing all his attention upon a human pet named Damaen and getting back his rebellious toy that went by the name of Tadashi.

He sent me to greet Tadashi and invite him to his lair. I protested, but Tetsu looked at me with his cold, blue gaze. I sullenly kept my mouth shut and went.

I really did not know what to expect.

There he was; a dark-haired man with bleached bangs, smoking a cigarette. He seemed rather lost in thought. I scowled jealously, seeing nothing particularly appealing about this vampire.

"Lord Tetsu sends his greetings, Tadashi," I said.

Tadashi looked over at me, the wind billowing his hair out like a fan. "So...he found out already. What does the bastard want?"

My eyes narrowed at this lack of respect for out master. "He was hoping for you to come and see him," I spat out.

"Oh, I’ll go see him," Tadashi said, smirking. He tapped the ash from his cigarette. "To drive a stake through his heartless chest."

"Why you!" I snarled. "I’ll—"

He was on be before I could finish, grabbing me by the neck, his grip tight and unforgiving. I struggled to no avail, my eyes showing a mere hint of fear.

"You’ll what, hmm?" he asked mockingly. "Kill me? A newblood like you? Hah! You still smell like a human." My eyes widened when he pulled out a gun. "You’re a parasite, a plaything of Tetsu’s. Don’t expect me to give you any mercy."

He put the gun against my forehead. I tried to fight my tears, my thoughts of never seeing my master again. "Please..." I whispered.

He pulled the trigger.

There was a flash of pain as the silver bullet entered my skull and I was sent spiraling down into the darkest night I had ever known, my last thought being that of two eyes the color of the sky that I would never see again.

This is a little side-story to my character Llorn, from Avalon. He lasted a whole 3 seconds there, but I like him nonetheless.

Aww...Wonderful story!

It turns a two dimensional character who appears for barely a page in the comic into this tragic little human we can empathise with. Very beautiful and very sad.
